Helping Hands for Heritage is a project to expand the potential of volunteering in the Tamar Valley, and to work towards helping to protect and care for its remarkable natural and cultural heritage.
Helping Hands for Heritage is funded through an ‘Our Heritage’ grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Match funding has been given by Tamar Valley AONB, the Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape WHS, Devon County Council, Tamar Community Trust, Calstock Parish Council and Buckland Monachorum Parish Council. These organisations, plus many more, have also pledged their support.
The project will provide expert training opportunities for volunteers over a range of topics, many of which have been identified to be at risk, across the entire AONB and the Tavistock Area of the Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site (WHS).
There are a number of key tasks, which are varied in coverage and interest and should gain a great deal of support from local communities; these include wildlife & ecological surveys, researching and recording village history, conservation & management of archaeological sites etc.
Full details and developments will be announced on the AONB website http://www.tamarvalley.org.uk/projects/hh4h/ or contact Samantha Barnes (Helping Hands for Heritage Project Officer) at the Tamar Valley AONB offices – T. 01822 835032 firstname.lastname@example.org
