Pinpoint training for the next generation

Westcountry Rivers Trust in association with the Rivers Trust and Catchment Sensitive Farming have delivered two PinPoint Training sessions in the South West. Both sessions were aimed at the next generation of farmers and land managers focussing on students at Duchy and Bicton colleges.

There were both classroom and practical outdoor sessions covering all aspects of on farm resource efficiency. In conjunction with the CSFO, Diffuse Water Pollution from Agriculture issues were identified with solutions and costings explained. Particular attention was paid towards yard infrastructure, nutrient management, soil condition, water quality monitoring and testing soils. Particular attention was paid to the easy ‘win win’ options that can make significant improvements in the farms efficiency but have little or no cost.

In total 30 students, 2 farm managers and several other staff attended the workshops on the 9th and 11th of March 2016.
