Tamar Catchment Fisheries Update

On Sunday the 19th of July the Tamar Catchment Fisheries plan held a meeting at Roadford reservoir. There a group of fisheries stakeholders including anglers and fishing clubs, as well at the Environment Agency and Westcountry Rivers Trust (WRT) met to discuss the development of a fisheries plan for the Tamar. As well as learning about the nature and environment of Tamar and its fisheries, there was a tour of the upper catchment with WRT Senior Farm Advisor, Ross Cherrington to learn about the problems facing the upper catchment, including siltation, canalisation, and gravel problems in the upper catchment. Over the winter the Tamar Catchment Fisheries group will develop an action plan to build upon the extensive work that is already going on in the catchment to improve the fisheries of the Tamar.
